Four simple steps to live food in 24 hours.

You don’t need fancy equipment. Go get a 2 litre plastic bottle, a $15 aquarium pump, salt and a light source – this will yield a fresh batch of brine shrimp every single day.

Mix the Brine

Dissolve 2 tablespoons of non-iodised salt per litre of dechlorinated water at 25C – 28C. Aim for a salinity of around 25 ppm.

Add the cysts (eggs)

Sprinkle a 1/4 teaspoon of bring shrimp eggs per litre. Drop in a steady airline (no airstone) to keep the cysts tumbling.

Light + Wait 24hr

Keep a light shining on the bottle. Within 18-24hrs you’ll notice a cloud of wriggling nauplii vibrating toward the light.

Harvest + Feed

Switch off the air, wait 5 mins. Empty shells float, nauplii settle. Siphon the bottom layer through a shrimp net and rinse. Feed away.
